Roles

Soliya Network members can choose a role (or multiple roles) to stay actively involved in Soliya’s mission and its programs.  

Connect Program Facilitator:
This role offers you the ability to facilitate meaningful experiences of university students going through the Soliya Connect Program; facilitate the sharing of personal and cultural experiences, drive difficult conversations, empower students to deal with difference and collaborate with other motivated facilitators to impact change.
Requirements: Basic and/or Advanced Facilitation Training.
Time commitment: Facilitating 1 Connect Program group during a semester will require 3-5 hours per week, for 8-10 weeks.

Connect Program Super Facilitator:
A Super Facilitator is a seasoned facilitator who is comfortable facilitating multiple groups and solo facilitating. A super facilitator will play a mentor-role when co-facilitating to serve as a role model for new upcoming facilitators.
Requirements: Advanced Facilitation Training. 4 semesters of Connect Program facilitation. Completion of one 2.0 training module.
Time commitment: Depend on the number of groups being facilitated (average 3-5 hours per group for 8-10 weeks)
Stipend: A commitment to facilitating multiple groups may make you eligible for a stipend.

Connect Program Coach:
This role offers you a chance to learn about facilitation by observing other facilitators in action, getting to know different and diverse group dynamics, and helping facilitators and their groups have the best Soliya Connect Program experience possible. Coaches support our facilitators’ professional growth, liaise between Soliya staff and facilitators and problem-solve challenges that come up during the semester.
Requirements: Coach training.
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week, working with 1-3 pairs per semester depending on your availability.

Connect Program Trainer:
A trainer is a trusted Soliya Network member who has extensive experience in facilitating in the Connect Program and coaching Soliya facilitators and is now ready to pass on their knowledge and skills to new volunteers.
Requirements: Training of trainers.
Time commitment: Usually 4-6 hours per week per training group for a duration of 5 - 10 weeks. Stipend: Trainers are eligible for a stipend if they train 3 groups or more simultaneously.

Public Squares Convener:
A Public Squares Convener is in charge of initiating and designing online or face-to-face Public Squares, as well as supervising the team of Public Squares collaborators and the successful implementation of Public Squares.
Requirements: Public Squares Conveners training.
Time commitment: This will vary depending on the size and format of the Public Squares as well as on the number of Conveners per Public squares. For a single group, online Public Squares, a Convener will need to dedicate approximately 6 hours of work per week, for a duration of 6 to 9 weeks.
Stipend: If Public Squares are part of a funded partnership, Conveners can be eligible for a stipend.

Public Squares Facilitator:
A Public Squares Facilitator is in charge of designing/adapting and facilitating the structure of Public Squares conversations, under the guidance of Conveners and with the support of Hosts.
Requirements: Public Squares Host and Facilitator training (6hrs).
Time commitment: For a single group, online Public Squares, a Facilitator will need to dedicate approximately 3 hours of work per week, for a duration of 3 to 6 weeks.

Public Squares Host:
A Public Squares Host is a Public Squares participant with additional responsibilities to support the process designed by Public Squares Conveners and Facilitators. In a sense, a Host is a Facilitator with less control over the process but with the ability to contribute to the content of the conversation. Hosts also complement and support the role of Public Squares Facilitators.
Requirements: Public Squares Host and Facilitator training.
Time commitment: For a single group, online Public Squares, a Host will need to dedicate approximately 3 hours of work per week, for a duration of 3 - 6 weeks.
